A&M AgriLife Extension Brings Landforms to Life for Hamm Elementary Students

Hamm Elementary welcomed the A&M AgriLife Extension team this week for an exciting and interactive science experience. Our 4th and 5th grade students explored land formations in a whole new way through a hands-on presentation featuring an impressive 3D topographic model.

Students learned how different landforms are created, how they change over time, and how natural forces shape the world around us. The AgriLife team guided students through demonstrations, real-world examples, and engaging discussions that made complex concepts easy to understand.

The highlight of the visit was the 3D model, which allowed students to see mountains, valleys, rivers, and other land features up close. Students were able to interact with the model, ask questions, and make observations that deepened their understanding of earth science.

We are grateful to A&M AgriLife Extension for providing such a meaningful and memorable learning opportunity. Our students had a blast exploring the science behind the landforms they study in class, and they walked away with a stronger grasp of the world beneath their feet!

Hamm Elementary 5th Graders Bring Colonial America to Life

This week, our 5th grade students at Hamm Elementary proudly hosted their annual Herotown Colonial Presentation, a beloved tradition that transforms learning into a hands-on, immersive experience.

Students researched the many trades and roles of Colonial America, then worked in teams to design and build their own colonial storefronts complete with props, signage, and historically inspired details. From blacksmiths and apothecaries to cobblers and candle makers, each shop showcased the unique skills, tools, and daily life of the colonial time period.

To share their hard work and historical knowledge, our 5th graders invited lower grade levels to step into “Herotown” and explore. Younger students had the chance to visit each storefront, ask questions, and learn directly from our young historians, bringing the rich history of colonial life off the page and into the real world.

The day was filled with creativity, curiosity, and fun. We are so proud of our students for their effort, teamwork, and enthusiasm in making this year’s Herotown presentation such a memorable learning experience!

Mojo the Dojo Visits Grade Levels at Hamm Elementary

Students at Sherry and Paul Hamm Elementary have been working hard to earn Dojo points by showing excellent behavior, demonstrating leadership, and being amazing Hamm Heroes.

One of the most exciting incentives our students work toward is winning Mojo the Dojo for their class. The class with the most Dojo points earns the chance to host Mojo for the week, a special honor that everyone looks forward to.

This week, Mojo made his way to 5th grade, where students have been leading the way with their positive actions and teamwork. In the photo, you can see some of our 5th grade boys working alongside Mojo, manning the walkie talkie during dismissal duty.

We are so proud of our Hamm Heroes for continuing to make positive choices and showing what it means to be leaders across our campus. Keep up the great work, heroes!

First Hero Huddle of the Year at Sherry and Paul Hamm Elementary!

Sherry and Paul Hamm Elementary kicked off our very first Hero Huddle of the year with lots of excitement, energy, and celebration.

Students were recognized for their outstanding achievements and for showing what it truly means to be a Hamm Hero. The gym was full of cheers as each grade level showed off their brand-new chants, and they did not disappoint.

To top it all off, our amazing teachers took one for the team and got pied in the face as part of our final Boosterthon rewards. The laughter, smiles, and school spirit were absolutely contagious.

It was a perfect reminder of how strong our Hamm family is when we come together to celebrate hard work, kindness, and teamwork.

Leadership in Action: Hamm 5th Graders Take Charge of PBIS

At Hamm Elementary, our Heroes don’t just learn about leadership. They live it. This year, our 5th graders have been given an exciting new challenge: helping lead our schoolwide PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) system.

Hamm is a full Dojo campus, and our 5th graders are stepping up in a big way to make sure everything runs smoothly. They are helping manage our PBIS initiatives, organizing rewards, and ensuring our Dojo store stays stocked and ready for students who earn their points.

In this photo, our 5th graders are having a special “staff” lunch together. They are brainstorming ideas, collaborating, and planning the best ways to make our Dojo store even better for everyone on campus.

We are proud of these young leaders who are showing what it means to take responsibility, work as a team, and make Hamm Elementary a place where positive behavior and school spirit thrive.

Celebrating Sherry Hamm: A Namesake Who Inspires Every Day

At Hamm Elementary, we are deeply thankful for our school namesake, Sherry Hamm. Her dedication to our students goes far beyond lending her name to our building. She makes it a priority to be here, in classrooms, with our kids.

Mrs. Hamm spends her time moving from grade level to grade level, reading with students, teaching lessons, and sharing her love of learning. Her presence brings excitement and joy, and our Heroes light up when she walks into the room.

Her commitment to being a part of our school’s daily life reminds us all of the power of community and the importance of investing in our future leaders. We truly cherish Mrs. Hamm and the heart she pours into Hamm Elementary every day.

Tiny Heroes, Big Leaps: The Start of Something Special at Hamm

At Hamm Elementary, our tiniest Heroes are already making great leaps and strides! The start of kindergarten is filled with discovery, excitement, and new friendships. From the very first day, our classrooms are alive with hands-on learning. Manipulatives, centers, and activities spark curiosity and build confidence.

But it is not just about academics. It is about connection. As our kindergartners work together, they are learning the foundations of friendship, teamwork, and kindness. Those early bonds create a sense of belonging that helps every child thrive.

Hamm truly is a place to learn and grow. Watching our youngest Heroes take these first steps reminds us why we do what we do. We are nurturing bright futures, one small step at a time.
